Merry meet,

Yeah I know what your all thinking, It's ' Stop asking so many things Angel, I'm going mad!'. I guess it's just a habit! ;) . Could you guys please try to answer the following:

1) When you are supposed to use a herbs for a celebration or something, are you supposed to burn it or what?

2) What's a ritual bath?

3) If I eat meat, I am not exactly hurting the animal because it's already dead. However, I am in a way, showing my surport of the animals being killed. But, if I didn't eat it, It would be just like it was killed for know reason as it was born to be food. Is it wrong to eat meat? Is it againt the Rede? I haven't hurt the animal, so is it ok?

I know it's a lot, Sorry.

Blessed be,

Angel

Ok, firstly, I am glad you are asking these questions, its shows that you think about these things, want to learn, and to few people ask, if more people asked more information would be shared and out community would be strenghtened.

1) Herbs can be used it many ways, plant the seeds or plants in a pot to have as part of a herb collection or to gift a friend, or the plant can be a continuation of the energy raised in circle, for instance as it grows so does your confidence, or ability to stop biting your nails. Or you can burn them (but be careful, fires dangerous and it may set the smoke alarm off, usually you make them smolder), or you can put them in sachets, poppets or other items, boil them to make a tea or salve, sprinkle them around, put them in a bath, rub them on a tool to cleanse it, the possibilities are endless!

2) A ritual bath is a bath, usually cleansed with herbs and salt and surrounded by candles, used as part of a ritual or performed before a circle, to cleanse you of negative energy and get your mind calmed and in the right state for the circle or ritual.

3) This is a bit of a sticker for many. It mostly depends how you interpret the Rede. I am a Wiccan, and I have also been veggie for many years (although not as long as I have been Wiccan) and vegan for a few months now, I personally don't agree with eating meat (that and I feel sick just from the smell), and would be vegan even if I wasn't Wiccan. I can't say no, don't eat meat, or yes eat meat, because I am not you. I'd advise you spend some time thinking about it, If you feel ok eating meat then continue to do so, but try to stick to organic free range instead, if you decide to go veggie, make sure you still eat healthily, and eat plenty of beans and pulses as part of a varied diet.

hope this helps.

Just thought I'd put in my two cents worth, at least on vegitarianism.  (Is that a word? lol.)

I don't think I could live without eating meat.  My family raises cattle, so our livelihood is based on meat.  I have nothing against vegitarians, or veggies.  (I love me a good salad...)    Personally, I can't stand to see animals hurt.  I'm one of the guys that cries when they see an ASPCA commercial or drives by the pound...  However, I've always been taught that... well, bluntly put, if it's dead don't waste it.  Of course, road kill and pets are among the exceptions...

I am a vegetarian, and have been so for a year now. MUUUUCH longer then I have been going about Wicca. I am with Felicia in saying that simply the smell of the stuff makes me nauciose (Gah I can't spell). I made the decision after seeing this vid on youtube about the slaughterhouses. I can say that as far as going against the Rede I agree with Felicia. It depends on how you look at the Rede.

I'm not vegetarian myself and yes I do feel bad about the animals being killed but I like eating meat and well it'll be a long time maybe even never before everyone in the world will turn vegetarian and so if the animals are already being killed why waste there lives? Also think of nature animals eating other animals,in a way it is just the food chain of course I respect that some of you guys dont like eating meat and that fine to and as I've said before I do feel bad.

Wicca shouldn't effect your decision. The Horned God is both animal and hunter. Just watch the lion king- circle of life and all that. :)

But, if you want to be veggie for your own sake (I am, for my health) or because it goes against your moral compass, then do so. Just follow your gut.

I eat meat, but not much. I don't think it's wrong really, as long as the animal is already dead or you REALLY need it for food. Also I think it's important to get organic.

As far as that though, I eat primarily fish and no pork. Meat can be bad for you if you eat too much of it.

I was a vegetarian for a few years. Good lifestyle, cheaper then buying meat, too.

I was a vegetarian for Moral, Health, and semi-religious reasons.

Eventually, when my allowance got short, I couldn't afford to buy healthy food to cook my own meals anymore (as that's the rule in my house...at fourteen, you buy everything for yourself) and I was having bad health effects from lack of complete protein.

I kind of don't like meat anymore, except for seafood. I kinda wanna go back to my veggie diet. I was building up to being vegan. I still can't handle eating some kinds of meat these days.

If you want to eat meat but feel guilt about it, fear not. There are free-range meats and you can donate in small amounts to support better treatment of animals when they are alive. Now that meat is part of my diet, I'm careful about what I buy. You can give thanks to the food that's infront of you, and aknowledge that it's the circle of things. These days I give lots of respect to animals, even meat for cooking.

Personally, I think people shoudl give thanks and pay respects however they choose and respect others methods. That's all I ask.

I've had people try to shove meat down my throat when I was a vegetarian, and I've had vegetarians call me a killer when I eat meat in a restaurant. No one should have to feel guilty about what they eat, and no one should miss eating something they like.

You guys have really sorted out my problems, thanks! I think I'll say a meat eater, as long as I didn't kill or hurt them I am not breaking the rede.

Blessed be,

Angel

Good, you should do what works for you.

I will say though, that there is some awfull animal abuse in the meat industry. You can try buying brands of free frang meet that hasn't bebn pumped full of hormones and other chemicals. The meat is usually such safer (and healthier) for you, and the animals are treated better.

But again, it is all up to you. If you are bothered by poor treatment of animals for meat but don't want to stop eating it, there are still things you can do.

I'm glad you have made your descision.

I must say if anyone on here is thinking of becoming veggie or vegan please remember to eat plenty of healthy protien rich foods like couscous and pulses. In general a healthy veggie or vegan diet is better that a meat including one, but if you live on junk food (the same goes for meat eaters with this) then you will not be healthy, veggie or no.
