Grace,

I have been studying and practicing wicca for 9 years now but I am by no means any expert, I can tell you what I know/believe.

I found it a very difficult thing in the beginning as there are so many sources of information both acurate and not so you first need to decide what you believe is right and second take everything with a pinch of salt because many people believe many different things and although no author would deliberately mislead you (I would hope), their writing with a bias towards their own beliefs and practices.

It is great that you feel wicca is the path for you, however, I wouldn't say that you "join" wicca so much as you live wicca. The next thing you have to decide is if you want to work alone or in a group/part of a coven. The latter can be very difficult to achieve, you could use the internet and see if there are any covens/groups near your area or pop in to your local wicca/new age shop and ask them. I personally have friends who are also wiccan and we work together sometimes but I also work solitary a lot of the time.

As to your question on wiccan names there are various beliefs as to how one finds theirs. Some people believe you can choose it yourself and work with that (think about the meaning behind wht you choose; symbolism; diety; magical use etc). Others belief that way is incorrect and your nam will not hold as much power because it is not your real secret name and you have to ask the Goddess and God to help you find your wiccan name by giving you signs in your dreams, the world, meditating etc and wait for the signs to come. This can take some people literally years to discover but it is believed by those who follow this way that your name will now be very powerful to you. You can meditate on it and see if it comes to you. Which ever way you decide to go don't take the name straight away, try it out for a few weeks or months before adopting it as your wiccan/secret name just to see if it works for you :)

I hope what I have said helps you and remember even what I say will be biased by what I have read, practiced and believe so if it doesn't feel right to you don't worry.

Blessed be.

That is 100% normal, in my opinion. I often feel more connected to other wiccans, and bond with them as family, rather than friends.

I think its basically the same if you were to consider your best friend for example to be like a brother or sister to you except of course this is in a more spiritual sense.

For Grace I think the way you go about finding your Wiccan name is to just look into your heart and figure out what way is best for you. Though this sounds a bit typical as a response if you think about it no one person, book, or other thought form can really tell you the best way of finding your name. Because of this the most basic and best way to find out what your name should be to look in YOURself in YOUR heart or look to YOUR dieties.
