What are your plans for celebrating the Solstice/ Yule? As many of you know the 2010 Winter Solstice falls on December 21st this year. In addition, a Lunar Eclipse will be present on the Winter Solstice as well. It appears that we are going to have a bit of a turbulent Winter Solstice this year based on other planetary alignments. I am not an expert chart reader but have been doing some research on the matter. What ever way you decide to celebrate, keep it as simple as possible and focus on as much of the postive things in your life as possible.

Remember that family and friends being together is far more important that how lavish we can make it. Anyone have any ideas on how to make it easy on the pocket book? My way has always been to do pot luck style dinners and always make dishes home-made rather than buying pre-cooked or side dishes from the deli. Besides, it tastes much better when its made with love. ;)

I agree the love gives it the extra umph lol. Anyway, our coven is getting together this year and in a way we are doing a kind of secret santa kind of thing. Then we are going to a simple little ritual for the gods rebirth. Then we are going to open gifts near the bonfire outside, snuggle down and drink some spiced cider YUM!!! I love Yule!

Nice Allium! Sounds like fun. I am a solitare so celebrating alone is hard sometimes. I tend to weave wiccan with family tradition when celebrating with family. I have a friend who is also a solitare and we get together every so often and have a "witchie" day as we call it and share our plans - sometimes we do celebrations together or work on rituals together. We haven't done that in a while - life happens and we get busy. But he is my chart reader and teaches me a lot.

Hope you have a wonderful Yule/ Solstice

Blessed Be

Hope everyone had a wonderful day today and enjoyed Yule/ Solstice. Did anyone get a chance to see the Lunar Eclipse. I unfortunately didn't get to see it....cloud cover. I unerstand that it was beautiful and the moon was HUGE!

I did get a chance to walk barefoot in the snow outside today. It was refreshing and made me feel ALIVE! It was very warm outside after it snowed this morning - so that made me feel warm and fuzzy and connected with the earth. :) The same feeling when I walk barefoot in the grass or sand. I just wish I could have waited out the cold to ground and center while standing out there. I am thankful for the connection I did make.

I simply had a small ritual because my mom was cranky with shopping stress and limited my time. Ugh. So, I made do with what I had. How did everyone else spend the day?

I decorate my altar, lit some candles n incese and said a prayer. I also did a winter solstice 6-card tarot spread for the upcoming year. It really helped me put things into perspective for myself - it was very helpful. It kind of confirmed for me that I am on the right path with some things I have going on in my life. More over, it reaffirmed my belief that what is most important is that we give and receive love - and we understand how to. Actions speak louder than words in most cases.

I am wiccan/pegan - however I am split between christianity and peganism so I practice a little of both. In both cases, it comes down to love and respect for each other and the earth. I never wanted to decide to just be one or the other and I felt that I could blend them together. What is important is your personal core belief system and no one should judge anyone for the love that they have in their hearts - their personal beliefs. When I started learning about wicca/ peganism, what captured my attention the most was the love for the earth and all of the life that resides here - the respect for it. What I could not let go of in christanity was Jesus Christ and his love for everyone. So I blend my love and respect.

It doesn't matter how big you celebrated, what matters is how it made you feel. If simply lighting a candle satisfies your heart, then it is the right thing to do. ;)

However - I wish I would have caught the Lunar Eclipse! I missed it. Slept in. A friend of mine caught it and said it was beautiful! The moon was huge in the sky!
