Hi i'm new to Wicca and I was wondering what type of spell/chants/songs are good for me. Im practising as a solitary wiccan at the moment and I am writing my book Of Shadows so does anyone have any spells, songs or chants that I can use?

Rubywolf And I find myself born into this particular position. I'm determined to make the most of it. And to do whatever I can to help. And I hope I leave things behind a little bit better than I found them.

Well, magic is like any other skill. You have to build it over time.

However, it is not something you do without a cause. If there is no need for a spell the last thing you should do is use one.

I suggest you get used to prayer and rituals, as well as meditation ( if you are not already) so that you get a feel of working with the divine. Once you get the hang of using tools and learning correspondences, trying cleansing a place like your room or altar. Maybe bless a friend.

Remember, spells are things that draw something to you directly. So there is no need to perform a spell if you don't need one. Simple acts of magic, like positive visualization, prayer, rituals, and observance of nature will get you far!

I also think that if you’re looking for practice, you could start constructing some small charms. For example, cleanse a stone and meditate with it, then keep it with you for focus. Or perhaps you could make a dream catcher and ask for protection from nightmares from a Deity of your choice. On the other hand, you could make a charm for luck, love, protection, or what have you. You'll get the hang of magical workings without starting trouble for yourself where there is none. I also find these much more useful and practical than spells.

Good Luck.
