Living Rooms & Social Areas These areas are one of the centers for social gatherings, and because they are places of conversing and working, they need a delicate balance of yin and yang. For this reason, it is best to start with a neutral color scheme, which is considered the most receptive of both yin and yang, and then add visually pleasing colors to suit your tastes. Though you may want more than one area of conversation in your rooms, such as having a desk in one corner and a set of chairs on the other side, be sure that you have one comfortable center to the room, such as a couch and table with chairs near the fireplace. These places, depending on how you arrange your furniture should feel somewhat separate and create a sense of privacy, but you do not want to isolate the sections of a room. You can do this by changing the flooring in one part of the room or having one wall painted a different color to accent the others so that each area has it’s own distinct feel but they are all united within the room. Make sure that your furniture does not have it’s back to the entrance, as this gives an unwelcoming feeling to energy and visitors. | |
