My mom and I were clearing out what used to be my old bedroom (and before that, her old office), and she gave me a few books.

One of which I found lying around and asked if I could keep, called "Chop wood, carry water" which is about finding spirituality in everyday "mundane" things. It seemes like an interesting read, but I haven't started it yet (we just finished cleaning). I think I will post an update on what I think later, but for now, has anyone read this? It's not strictly Wiccan (though it does have new age refernces) it seems like a great spiritual book.

Another one she said I would be interested with was 'The Power of Myth'. It has a lot of cultural myths, primitive, oriental, western, and so on. The interesting thing about it is that it's not myths from any one culture but rather how mythology effects the human psyche and myths to live by. It looks interesting, though I have only started flipping through it.

If anyone has read these, insight would be appreciated and I will let you all know later what I think of them.

Okay, so I haven't started on teh mythology book yet, but Chop Wood Carry Water is an amazing spiritual book - I totally recommend it no matter what faith you are from.

I'm not interested in Wicca books at this point - I've read many I'm looking more for books about your own spirituality, rather than a lable. I like books that are great no matter what faith you come from, after all, I'm tryign to gain experience more than anything.

But thank you for the recommendation.

Have you read 'Green Space, Green Time'?  My mom just gave it to me to read, and I've read some references from it.  It's about science and spirituality.  My mom says it's wonderful.

Also, I've just begun reading 'Women Who Run With Wolves' and it is FABULOUS!  I'm not sure I would call it spiritual, but it's psychological and it's wonderful.  I'm sorry if I'm recommending books you've already read...

'The Earth Path' by Starhawk has been a good read so far, though i'm not really far into it.  It's another science-oriented book...has more goddess revival/witchcraft stuff than basic spirituality stuff though.

Oh, is that 'The Power of Myth' by Joseph Campbell?  I've been meaning to get my hands on that one...

Yes, that is the author of 'Power of myth', though I haven't gotten very far (I have a habit of reading several books at once and picking favorites).

I actually have just found Earth Path at my local library, finally, and I think it is quite good. Maybe a bit too specific to Wicca for my taste, but I am a huge advocate of the environment so it does satisfy me quite a bit.

I haven't read 'Green Space, Green Time,' though I have seen it at the library, I will be sure to look for it next time, as with 'Women who run with wolves'.
