I have revised & edited this topic, and I figured it would be more convenient to have it under my new account in case (newer) members have questions on the topic.

..::Introduction::..

Different from witch candles, more like a "bottle spell".

Another long "how to" thread.

Witch bottles are one of the most well preserved forms of traditional witchcraft, because they have a variety of forms and uses. Traditionally, one would put "nasties" such as nails or pins into the bottle to symbolize bad energy and then put incense ash or salt in with it, perhaps paint a protective symbols on it, or say a chant, and then bury the bottle for protection. Today, however, they have a variety of uses, and I will go over a few of these, in terms of giving pointers and a few quick how-to's for some basic ideas. Feel free to add or branch out on your own!

For extra information on witch bottles, try going here or here.

Anyway, here are a few "for starter" bits of information.

Witch bottles can be composed of almost anything. You can paint the inside or outside of a bottle, or you can keep it clear. You can decorate them with symbols. You can put crystals, sand, salt, herbs, flowers, incense ash, paper, locks of hair, or practically anything that fits inside it to help you with your purpose.

Note: For educational purposes I will include that traditionally, and possibly still today, people included fluids such as blood or urine in witch bottles. I personally do not support these methods because plenty can go wrong, especially if you obtain blood by causing intentional harm and you are not aware of the sterility of your surroundings. None of the methods I include will involve this behavior. I will say that should you choose to add "bodily fluids" of any sort, in any practice, be safe about how they are obtained and do so in a clean environment.

So, for those of you that want to make up your own witch bottle recipes:

1) Consider what you want this witch bottle to do. Protect, attract, deflect, manipulate or enhance energy? And for what purpose? Healing, love, safety, wealth?

2) What are you going to do with the bottle once it's finished? Will you leave it undisturbed in a corner? Bury it in the yard? Keep it as a decoration? Send it away? Keep it on your altar? Think about where it is you want the energy to be pulled to or dispelled from. I have a witch bottle I keep by my altar that helps diffuse negative energy, it keeps the place "pure", so to speak. If I wanted to protect myself and my loved ones, I would make a protection bottle and bury it in front of my house.

3) What will you be doing to the bottle itself? Will you paint the inside or outside? Will you put symbols on it? Will it be clear? Would you like it to be colored (a color corresponding to purpose is best)? Will you cleanse it? Will you bless it? Will decide to plan for a certain day and moon phase, or will you make it in a basic circle?

4) As you should before any spell, think about all the variable you want to work with. What crystals, herbs, colors, metals, cloth materials, candles, incenses, or symbols would be best? Once you have a substantial list, narrow it down to the ones you want to use that fit the best or are most readily available.

5) Decide how you want the bottle to be constructed. Do you want to make it all at once? Would you like to add materials one day at a time? Will you make an entire ritual out of it?

Witch bottles are very affective when allowed to remain undisturbed. Perhaps you want your bottle out of plain sight, or perhaps you want it to look like simple décor. Just be sure it is not picked up or tampered with, or at least try to avoid it.

..::Protection Witch Bottles::..

Protection with bottles are the most common kind and the most widely and traditionally used. The preparation of these may be dangerous if you are using sharp objects, which many old instructions call for. Be cautious when constructing these, you don't want to hurt yourself and nothing feels less magical then having to leave a circle for band-aids!

A Witch Bottle for Protection.

(The most common kind)

Materials:

A bottle or jar with lid

Several inches of thread

A few pinches of sea salt

Broken Glass

Bent nails, tacks, or needles

Something silver (a simple coin works)

Band Aids and a damp cloth, just in case!

Instructions

Cast a circle. Meditate if desired. Fill the bottle with the broken glass, and say

“This cuts through all evil.”

Then add the tacks, needles, or nails

“These re-direct the bed energies pointed at me.”

Then add the thread or string. Be sure it is wadded up a bit or is a little tangled.

“This tangles curses.”

Add whatever it is that you chose for silver.

“And this reflects bad energy away from my home.”

Add the salt.

“And this purifies my space, and wards off evil never to return.”

Close the bottle, and if you wish you may trace a protective rune over the top with your finger. Take down the circle. Bury the bottle in front of your house if possible, or keep near an entrance such as a window or door.

A Witch Bottle for Evil From Within.

If you are having trouble with bad energy, but it is due to your own self-esteem, greed, or the like, rather than a person wishing to harm you, try this.

Materials:

Sea Salt

Citrine

A black/dark stone.

Rosemary or Sage

Ritual water (optional)

Instructions

Mix the sea salt and herbs together and add them to the bottle. “To purify within and without, and to protect me from evils within.”

Then focus on the dark stone. Picture it absorbing all negative energy. When you feel is it charged, dip it in ritual water and then place it in the bottle. “This weakens me no more. It becomes purified.” Shake the bottle around a little bit so salt coats the stone. Then add the citrine and say “This diffuses all bad energy. It allows only good will to manifest, so mote it be.” Close the bottle and seal as desired. Keep in your house in a place you spend much of your time, but where no one will remove it.

..::Money, Success, & Luck Witch Bottles::..

Just as the title says, these are to encourage abundance, be it in material ways or to advance your success. It shoudl be noted here that as with any money spell, your intent is imporant. Money must come from somewhere, so do not ask to take it from a specific person. It is best that you keep your intentions clear and mature, you want to encourage luck and prosperity without causing siffering to others.

A Witch Bottle For Luck & Prosperity.

Materials:

Mix of herbs including at least two of the following: Marjoram, bay, basil, patchouli, peppermint, cloves.

A silver colored coin.

A piece of paper, with your intent written in green ink. (such as, It is my will to have money for a ___, or I wish to obtain a ____)

To Cast

Perform on a waxing moon. Hold the coin so that it reflects some of the light. Say:

“Light from the silver moon,

please grant my wishes soon.

In this coin my wish is carried,

to manifest when it is buried.”

(chant from crystal forest )

Then drop the coin in the bottle. Add the herbal mixture on top of it. Then hold the paper between your palms and focus on what you wish to achieve. Like most wishing spells, it should be reasonable. Close and seal the bottle. Keep in your household, preferably in a dark place. The eastern corner of the room is best.

Witches Wishing Bottle

Materials:

A bottle or Jar with lid/cork

For this it is best to use the wishing powder I posted here.

Sea Salt,

A piece of paper

A pen with purple link. (quills or calligraphy pens are best, but normal pens are fine)

Sandalwood incense.

Thread of a natural fiber (optional)

To Cast

Cast a circle, cleanse & charge the bottle. Meditate if you have not done so already. Add the sea salt, and say “This purifies the bottle, and sets in motion the manifestation of my wish for _____”. Add the herbal mixture and say “And the magical properties of the universe will work to my advantage from here in, and provided it harms none it shall grant me my wish of _____.” Then, take the piece of paper and the pen. Run it through the smoke of your incense and then proceed to write on the paper your name (magical or legal) on the top of one side, your birth date on the bottom, and in the middle a symbol of your wish/what you wish to achieve. Then flip the piece of paper over. On the top, write the sign for your zodiac moon sign, and the symbol for your sun sign on the bottom. In the middle, write as clearly as you can what you wish to achieve, and why. You should have reasonable requests, and try to minimize selfishness of your reasons. For example, do not write “I want a new car because it’s cool.” But rather something like “I would like to find a part time job that pays well and I enjoy, so that I can save up for a ____.” And so on…Then roll the paper up so that your name and birth date face out ward, and your zodiac signs are on the inside. If you have the thread, wrap it around the paper and tie a knot. Say “By knot of one the spells begun” Tie a second knot, say: “By knot of two, my wish comes true.” Tie a third and final knot and say: “By knot of three, so mote it be.” Place the paper inside the bottle. Then dump the incense ashes in as well. Seal the bottle, take down the circle and the spell is done.

Witch Bottle for Wealth

Materials:

A bottle or jar.

Six Bay leaves.

Orange Peel

Cloves

To Cast

Add the cloves and orange peel to the jar after it has been cleansed. These are masculine elements, because the Sun is associated with wealth and power. Ask the God or sun entity of your choice to bless the contents of the bottle. Add all the bay leaves one at a time, saying the following chant, each line corresponding to each leaf:

“Leaf of one, the spell’s begun,

Leaf of two connects with fate,

By three success becomes the case.

By four its powers grow evermore,

The fifth directs prosperity,

By six it’s done, so mote it be.”

Close the bottle and keep it somewhere no one will tamper with it.

..:: Love & Relationship Witch Bottles::..

It is important that one realizes love is nto to be played with. Your emotions are special and you should not manipulate or tamper them, and the same is true for the feelinsg of others. However, witch bottles serve to bring good things and ward away bad. This can be helpful in relationships, whether you need to banish false trust, or heal from the end of a relationship, or to bring good relationships to you. When preparing a witch bottle, do not aim to manipulate anyone, just hope for things to work out and for good to come to you.

Witch bottle to rid yourself of bad thoughts and feelings in a relationship, or to heal from a bad relationship.

Materials:

Bottle or Jar with lid.

A piece of paper

A pen

A white candle

Sea Salt

Ritual Water

Instructions to Cast

Cleanse the bottle and cast a circle if you so choose. Light the candle. Take a bit of ritual water and place it inside the bottle. Then add a few teaspoons of salt. Covering the top of the bottle to prevent spills, shake or rotate the bottle so that salt coats the wet surface.

Now write whatever it is that is bothering you on the candle. Write all the flaws of the relationship, such as ‘dishonesty’, or write of unhappy event you wish to move on from. Be as specific as you like. If you are hoping to break the relationship write your name in one corner and your partners name in another. Then burn the paper in the candle flame (carefully). If you have written your names on the candle, burn the paper in the middle so that the flame separates your names. Add the ashes to the bottle, and then some more salt to cleanse and heal you. Keep it in your home for as long as you need. When you feel you are done healing from the events and want to move on, break the bottle (Somewhere it will not disturb or hurt others), and don’t bother it again.

A Witch Bottle for Love

To bring love to you, in the form of a person or to bring good things into an already existing relationship. This spell can be changed as needed, there are a lot of optional items listed to suit the needs of people who want to use it.

Materials:

Bottle or Jar with lid or cork,

red paint (optional),

At least one of the following flowers:

red or pink rose petals, seven daisy flowers (the little ones are fine),

sea salt,

rose, musk, jasmine, or honeysuckle incense, (Rose or musk for attracting general love, jasmine is generally for attracting femininity, or honeysuckle for masculinity.)

a green, red or pink candle, matches/lighter,

Wine or apple juice to substitute,

& Two of the following: pink, red, or white silk ribbon,

To Prepare

Cast the circle. Cleanse the bottle by running it through water, cold tap water is fine. Should you prefer, invoke the Love God or Goddess of your choice.

Light the candle and burn the incense. Best to meditate on your goal to get into the right mindset, and you’ll need a bit of ashes and melted wax later. Add the salt to the bottle. When you do this, salt represents the earth helping you towards your goal to attract love. Next add the flowers, these represent air, and also correspond to love. Third, add the wine or apple juice, which represents water, the prime physical element of love. Add the incense ash, this representing spirit, specifically the spirit of the people that you will attract (but not a specific person). Then use some of the melted wax to seal the bottle shut, placing some of it on the rim and then closing with cork/lid and letting the wax harden. Take the red paint (if you have some) and paint the word ‘love’ on the bottle in any alphabet you choose. Then, finally, take the two ribbons and hold them together between your hands. Raise as much power as you can. When you feel you have charged the ribbons with a fair amount of energy, whisper:

“To bring me love, by the power of three, inside and out, so mote it be.”

Then tie three knots in the ribbon, and proceed to tie it around the jar or neck of the bottle.

Snuff the candle, place the bottle near your bed or in your window (or any place in your room that works) and the spell is done.

Next: If anyone would like to request a witch bottle recipe, please PM me. I have additional witch bottles for each catigory as well as recipes to help with work, school, friends, spritual work (mythical creatures, dreams, reaching goals, ect.) and more. Unless I get any requests, it looks like this will be all.
