Entrances & Doorways The entrance to your house or room is very important in Feng Shui. It is through these that Qi (also knows as 'Chi' ...no laughing...) enters and if the entrance is unfavorable it can influence the energy of your entire house. If your front door opens to an undesirable place, like being too close to the street or close to a parking lot you can place objects in your entrance to invite positive chi and reject negative energy. You can place objects that bear harmonious symbols, like the Yin-Yang or Om (The Buddhist symbol for harmony) near the doorway. Although Feng Shui is centered around Confucianism instead of Buddhism, today it is incorporated into Feng Shui for its belief in nature and philosophies like the Yin & Yang. You can also have mirrors, which are used to invite fast and active energy and reject depressing feelings from a space. It is also important to note that you do not want furniture to have it’s back to the entrance, because this can block the flow of chi. If possible, you may want chairs or seats to face the entrance so that it invites chi into the room. Doorways and windows may be dressed to control the amount of light that is let into the room, but be sure that during the day you let light or fresh air in though open or clear windows. It is very important to keep clutter out of the room and especially away from doorways at it tangles chi and prevents stress relief. | |
