Okay, so there are many ways to go about doing this. You can draw (or glue drawings) into your BOS, you can use scrapbooking stuff, or use pressed leaves and flowers. You might write in it in a special ink or you may use a simple pen, or you might type it up and them paste it on the pages. If you are pasting, you can use a bit of glue and then coat sides of teh paper with glitter or sand. You can also singe the edged of teh paper with flame if you so choose.

This is only one method of decoarting, I encourage everyone to find what works for them.

Anyway, there is a tutorial for using scarpbook methods which I found here: http://www.magickaschool.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5839&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

And thought I would share with you all!

Handy Crafting Supplies:

Good quality printer / writing paper

Coloured card & paper, even wrapping paper that takes your fancy

Superglue & craft glue

Double sided sticky tape

Steel ruler

Craft knife

Chopping board or suitable cutting surface

& Decorations Like...

Ribbons

Stickers

Pictures - drawn, from magazines or the internet

Photographs

Pressed flowers & leaves

Feathers

Glitter

Or anything else that your inspired to put inside your Book of Shadows, Gimoir, or other special book.

And of course, you need you Book Of Shadows.

1. Start by writing or typing and printing out the text for the page(s) on your good quality paper.

2. Now cut out each section of the text. TIP - Using the ruler as a guide tear out the sections, this gives a more antique / handmade look

3. Choose the photographs, diagrams or other items you wish to use to illustrate the text. Ensure they are cut to the required size.

4. The next step is to decide on the colour scheme you wish to use and then choose items from your crafting / scrapbooking supplies to match.

5. The sections of text will be mounted on the coloured card / paper. Use as many layers, shapes, or directions of paper as you like.

6. Attach the pieces of paper together. Taping the smaller tabs together is easier with double side sticky tape because it doesn't damped or wrinkle the paper like glue, but you may use glue if you tink it works better.

7. Repeat this process with all of the text sections and photos/pictures.

When you have all of you pieces framed on the coloured paper you are ready to fix them into your BOS.

8. It is best to arrange your pieces of paper and drawings first before you glue them down to be sure that you like where they are. When you are ready, glue or tape down. If you are using glue, let dry before moving on to the next page or closing the book.

Here is a sample of the finished product:

Can your BOS be a regular notebook that you decorate? or does it have to be a hardcover book that you buy online?

Well in my opinion a bos could be anything mines a hard back copy that i decorated, bos dont have to be pre decorated and expensive, personalizing them would make them more personal in my opinion.

A book of shadows is anywhere you keep information (and document experiences) I have several; one is a fancy hard cover black book, one is a hand-made leather bound book from france, and three of them are small notebooks I bought at a dollar store! Some people even keep all their information on the computer. Do what works best for you. This is just a suggestion of how to decorate your BOS if you're feeling crafty.

You can spend hundreds of dollars on a fancy book you buy online, or you cam staple pages together, or anything in between. It's all up to you.

I use a big artists sketch book for mine. Its got lovely thick paper and plenty of pages, the covers dark blue with just a hint of marblish effect. Only cost a fiver :) . I do have a couple of the nemisis now books with the thick resin covers, but they are so bulky and they often won't close properly as it is, so are no good for sticking dried herbs and cut outs in, so I use them for poetry and stuff like that instead. I spent a lot of time trying to find a decent book, my advice is write your entries in a normal cheapo pad until you find one thats right for you, then either keep them seperate or add them in before making your first new entry.

Mines pretty rustic anyway. I tend to stick a lot of dried herbs and plants in to go with whatever spell i'm adding, or a leaf from a tree i've written about. I do cut out stuff like recipies, spells etc from magazine and the net to stick in as well. And as for chicken scratch, you should see my writing, no need for me to right in codes, even I struggle to read it :D
