As many of you will know apples are sacred, and if you cut them in half in the correct direction their seeds for a pentacle. One practice that is popular is to save the seeds from an apple you eat then plant them to grow. I have four apple plants growing quite happily now, and will be giving one each to my two nieces and my nephew, then keeping the other myself. Looking after the little trees and watching them grow is lovely.

I have tried many times to grow apples. I'm thinking i'm just not in the right area to grow them. Do you have any tips that could possibly help me grow my apples? It would be greatly appreciated.

I grew mine in one pot each, planting the seeds near the side (more air in the soil there). You then keep them either in a warm sunny place outside, or indoors in a sunny place. Its best to keep them on higher ground when outside, and they should be kept lightly watered. I also planted in bits of the peel from the apple amoungst the soil for the slow release of nutrients, within two weeks they'd sprouted. Once they have outgrown the pot replant them into a bigger one. Make sure they are kept out of frost and that you don't get water on the leaves during the day (they'll be damaged otherwise). Good luck

I think I am going to try this with my son. We are doing the Neem trees right now...may as well add an apple tree. We could get it going throughout the winter and should be hardy enough to plant outside by summer.
Right now we are populated with honey-crisp apples locally grown. They are delicious! Best when bought from the Amish...all organtic but they are like 8.00 for a 5lb bag. Very worth it! Unless you have any other suggestions on a specific type to grow in Southeaster Wisconsin.
